A sometimes bleak stretch of back road linking the twinkling lights of Cape Town with the timewarped, half forgotten farming towns of the Little and Great Karroo. Out here, in the middle of all this nothing I found the vibe, so often described by travellers when they allow themselves to be still, in a big sky place.
