Bold+Steps+Project%0D%0DIn+June+of+2007+I+exhibited+my+documentary+of+the+controversial+Afrikaans+rock+group+Fokofpolisiekar.+Along+with+the+accolades+I+received+for+this+body+of+work%2C+there+were+questions+raised+as+to+my+insistence+on+working+in+black+and+white%2C+my+long+term+focus+on+the+band+and+whether+I+could+work+outside+the+boundaries+of+live+music+and%2For+performance.+%0D%0DThe+black+and+white+work+presented+here+represents+a+more+surrealistic+approach+to+an+assignment+on+Oppikoppi%2C+a+South+African+music+festival+where+I+became+obsessed+with+gesture+and+what+I+saw+as+more+of+an+implied+moment+than+a+decisive+one%3F+this+work+was+intended+for+the+original+deadline+for+this+project.+As+the+deadline+was+extended%2C+I+decided+to+push+the+envelope+further%2C+and+in+so+doing+employ+colour+in+my+personal+work+for+the+first+time.%0D%0DI+had+planned+to+spend+9+days+in+Cape+Town%2C+on+the+opposite+side+of+the+country+from+my+family+and+home%2C+but+with+no+specific+assignment+or+focus+other+than+to+capture+what+I+had+often+tried+to+relate+to+others+in+words%2C+but+failed%3A+the+almost+hedonistic+seeking+and+relentless+nightlife%3F+the+pointless+attempts+to+keep+up+with+friend%3Fs+and+colleagues+in+the+Mother+City.%0D
